Staff Programs Contacts

Dear Ruby Drive Families and Friends,

It is hard to believe how fast this school year is going.  We have already finished our first quarter and I can’t say enough wonderful things about our hard working students, talented staff, and caring parents.  At Ruby Drive, we are always striving to go from good to great!

Thank you for taking the time to meet with your children’s teachers at parent/teacher conferences last week.  Research shows that parent involvement is one of the most important factors of a child’s success in school.  Thank you for making your children’s education a top priority.

Schools Focus on Wellness

As part of a larger effort to curb childhood obesity, the federal government has passed legislation that requires school districts to adopt Wellness Policies that focus on healthy nutrition, nutrition education and physical activity.

“As a school district we recognize that there is a link between student health and learning.  Working together we can all make a contribution and create a school environment that fosters health and nutritional awareness,” said Jim Moore, Director of Educational Services for PYLUSD.  Everyone can become involved and play a part.  Hopefully, our small efforts will create lifelong healthy habits.

A committee comprised of PYLUSD teachers, parents, health professionals, school nurses, food services staff, activities directors, and administrators met several times to develop a policy that promotes awareness of healthy choices. The policy will also address food sold or served on campus, nutrition education, and physical activity.   Additionally, the legislation also calls for the district to establish wellness committees that further promotes these goals.  We invite you to get involved.  If you would like to make a difference by participating on the wellness committee or have questions, please contact the Ruby Drive office.

Don’t forget to put the Ruby Drive Holiday Program on your calendar.  This year it will be on Thursday, December 21 at 1:00 p.m.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving and that you get time to spend with family, friends, and loved ones.  We have so much to be thankful for at Ruby Drive.  Have a magnificent Thanksgiving.

Sincerely,

James Hardin
